It's been nearly 60 years since John McCarthy walked the decks of the USS Iowa as a sailor; and the 84-year-old was thrilled to see the old battleship making another voyage Thursday.

In the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet since 2001, the famous World War II vessel was towed under the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge as part of its journey to Los Angeles.

"I feel lots of nostalgia right now," said McCarthy, who served as assistant navigator during the Korean War in 1953. "We're all pleased to have her ensconced in a new home."
